NEW TRUSTEES AT GEORGIA EYE BANK, INC.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, OCTOBER 18, 2016 – Georgia Eye Bank is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Trustees.  Nancy McConnell and Farish Wheeler join the Board of Georgia’s only nonprofit eye bank which provides donated eye tissue for transplantation and research.  “We are excited to welcome Nancy and Farish to the organization and look forward to their leadership and support,” said Georgia Eye Bank’s President and CEO, Eric Meinecke.  “Nancy and Farish bring tremendous knowledge, expertise, and wisdom to our already exceptionally talented and dedicated Board.”

Nancy McConnell specializes in physician practice performance improvement for private physician practices and hospital employed groups.  She provides compensation planning for physicians, advisory services to accomplish practice mergers and analyses to identify opportunities for improvement of revenue generation and expense improvement. She works with physicians and hospitals to establish new solo or group medical practices promoting a successful launch, conducts comprehensive practice improvement consultations, facilitates strategic planning and provides fair market valuations.  Nancy’s healthcare experience includes prior experience as business manager for internal medicine and ophthalmology practices.  She has spoken at conferences and to professional groups on medical practice valuations, fair market valuations, physician compensation, Medicare billing, financial controls, and other healthcare-related topics. Nancy is certified by the Health Care Compliance Association and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Medical Group Management Association.  Nancy earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Georgia College & State University.

Farish Wheeler earned a BS in Language Arts Education from Auburn University.   After teaching high school for two years, Farish took a job at Saint Francis School in Roswell, Georgia.  She taught 5th grade for 4 years.  After earning a M. Ed from Georgia State University, she transitioned into Administration, serving as the Elementary Assistant Principal for 4 Years.  Since 2006, Farish has been the Elementary Principal at Saint Francis School.  Volunteerism has always been a big part of Farish’s life.   With parents who were very involved, both professionally and personally, with many non-profit organizations, Farish Learned from an early age the importance of giving back to the community.  While at Auburn, Farish got involved with a new SGA committee created to be a campus-wide community clearing house for volunteering, called Impact.  As the second director of Impact, Farish took the committee through the SGA Budget and Finance hearings and, under her leadership, the committee become its own campus organization, matching  student volunteers with local groups in the community in need of volunteers.  After college, Farish joined the Junior League of Atlanta, serving for several years as the Community Placement Chair for the Georgia Shakespeare Festival.  In addition, Farish volunteered on the Shepherd Center Junior Committee, serving on the Executive Board (Volunteer Placements) during her last year on the committee.  Farish previously served on the Parish Council at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and currently serves on the Religious Education Board and teaches Sunday School.  Farish and her husband Marc live in East Cobb and have two young boys (rising pre-K and rising 3rd grade) who love to play baseball.
